We are now heading into our final week of the first
semester. It is amazing to look back and
reflect on how the students have grown in just a few months. You should be so proud of your second grader!
We welcomed a new aide to our class last week. Mrs. Thareja has years of experience working
in the classroom and is quickly learning all about our classroom and school. Please introduce yourself if you see her!
Here is a look at the last few days of the semester:
Literature: We will be
finishing up our holiday literature this week.
Make sure your son or daughter practices his/her lines for “The Night
Before Christmas” and we will practice putting the lines together in class. On Wednesday the students will be reciting
the poem. We will also be discussing a
few sayings that we commonly read in literature or hear in conversation.
History: In history this week the kids will be working on a
final Greece-inspired project. We will
also review everything we have learned about ancient Greece over the
quarter. It has been so much fun
learning about their culture and seeing how it has impacted ours.
Science: We will wrap up our insect unit this week as
well. I am very much looking forward to
learning a bit more about each insect during project week. In school this week we will be going through
our science field books and enjoying a few final insect books. On Tuesday we will have a class period
dedicated to reading poetry about insects, so if you have any favorite poems
about insects, send them in!
Important Notes:
-We will have full days on Monday and Tuesday. ONLY Wednesday will be a half day (release
times at 12:15 and 12:30).
-There will be NO study club or tutoring this week.
-If you have not yet signed up for a conference with me for
after break, here is the link: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0B4AADA9283-winter1
-Thursday and Friday would be great days for your child to
work on his/her insect project. If you
have questions, feel free to email me.
Remember, these projects are due on Tuesday, January 7.
With wishes for peace and joy this winter break,
Ms. Norris
